Nepal: The journey begins in Kathmandu

On the flight to Kathmandu, we were blessed with clear weather, and a view of Mt. Everest in the distance.

The streets of Thamel seem much clamer and cleaner than our previous visit in 1998, but the vibe is still groovy chaos.

Many shops, trekking companies, bakeries, and amazing statues at random spots.

We took a "walking tour" in rainy conditions to Durbar Square, manuevering through narrow streets vying with people, bikes, motorcyles, pedicabs, taxis, and tiny minivans.

Many colorful images and unusual sights, smells, and heaps of honking vehicles.

The rain made the day a bit dreary, but the streets were colorful and intriguing.
